What do you do at Calvary?
Lead worship for our preschoolers, teach music and art
How did you come to Calvary Christian School and how long have you been here?
My daughter was in preschool at Calvary, I was asked to volunteer at a chapel to lead worship with the preschoolers. The rest is history! I have been at Calvary for 10 years.
What is your educational background and training?
I studied Early Childhood Education. I was called into ministry with children beginning at 16 years old. My experience has ranged from Sunday school, to high school youth groups, to working as a school aged childcare director for 10 years, leading children’s outreaches with our local homeless community, and to being a mom myself. I have learned so much and enjoyed every opportunity the Lord has given me.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Fullerton, California.
What is your favorite memory from your time at Calvary Christian School?
My favorite memory is ongoing. Preschool children have given me the gift of seeing like a child, helping me to trust God and believe He really loves me as I am. Children have given me the greatest understanding of what Jesus meant in Matthew 18 more than any sermon, book or adult has! Watching preschoolers worship will full faith and trust, watching them absorb the simple truths of Jesus’ love for them, and seeing them learn that we can trust Him has been a gift to me.
Who have been the biggest spiritual influences in your life?
There are too many to list… I will pick the most recent pastor who went to be with Jesus in 2017. Gene Molway. He simplified the Gospel and our response to it. He led by example to truly give our life away to a good, powerful, loving wonderful Father. We are called to be bondservants of Jesus and to love others as He has loved us. Gene encouraged my husband and I to keep pursuing God and His call on our lives in starting and continuing to lead those experiencing homelessness around us and those that were on the fringe in society. To those who feel like outcasts and unwanted. He taught us that we are ALL outcasts because of our sin, yet Jesus made us His own! We miss him and we grieve but thankfully we grieve with HOPE!
